He was engaged in learning and teaching, and contributed to the cultural and scholarly development of his society throughout his entire life. His books become indispensable sources of knowledge even years after his death. Mehmed Zihni Efendi taught Arabic, Islamic law, and Islamic theology at important schools of Ottoman Empire such as Galatasaray Maktab al-Sultani and Maktab Mulkiyya al-Shahana. He wrote textbooks for the students of aforementioned schools and introduced a very beneficial method in teaching Arabic language and rhetoric. In this book, the life personality, and works of Mehmed Zihni Efendi have been introduced. It also deals with his contributions to teaching Arabic language and rhetoric.
