Siyerde Şerh-Haşiye Geleneği: Moğultay b. Kılıç Örneği

The tradition of commentaries and glosses as one of the most important elements of the Islamic studies, have been used for centuries as a reliable scholarly activity and a method of writing in terms of understanding, preserving and transmitting knowledge. Although there have been works dealing with the commentary literature in different branches of Islamic studies in recent years, a work that displays a comprehensive approach in the field of siyer writing has not yet been produced. This book, which is a step taken to fill the gap in question, has been written to introduce the historical development of commentaries and glosses in siyer writing and the works written within this tradition and to establish the place of al-Zahr al-bāsim written by Moğultay b. Kılıç (d. 762/1361) as a gloss upon Abd al-Raḥmān al-Suhaylī’s commentary al-Rawḍ al-unuf upon Ibn Hishām’s al-Sira al-Nabawiyya, in siyer writing.
